Denmark Magpies jumped to top spot on the Albany Basketball Association A-grade standings with a percentage boosting win over Railways Tigers on Tuesday night. The Magpies had scoring options across the floor all night as they jumped out to an early lead and never faltered, handing the Tigers a thumping 71-26 loss in round nine. The Magpies now sit on seven wins and two losses, edging just ahead of the Infernos on percentage at the top of the A-grade ladder. Reagan Hutchinson was on fire from long-range in the early stages with two triples while Luke Wilson provided a superb physical presence down low for the Magpies. A 23-point unanswered Magpies run midway through the first half all but ended the Tigers’ chances of victory as the Magpies surged 29 points clear at half-time. The scoring pressure continued in the second term period as Sam Finigan exploded with a 14-point second half. Finigan (20 points) finished as the highest scorer in the game while Hutchinson (15), Gus Brampton (13) and Wilson (12) all dominated for the Magpies in the 45-point rout.
