Denmark claim women’s division two title, Raiders clinch division four at Basketball WA Country Championships

Denmark’s senior women’s side reigned supreme at the Basketball WA Country Championships in Perth at the weekend securing the division two title while Albany Raiders Green clinched the division four silverware.
After finishing fifth on the combined division one and two ladder, Denmark qualified for the division two finals where they held off challenges from Broome and Eaton at Bendat Basketball Centre on Monday.
Denmark made light work of Eaton in the grand final with two dominant halves, storming to a crushing 28-point win over their weary opponents.
After entering half-time with an 11-point advantage, Denmark continued to apply scoreboard dominance with a 27-10 second half to prevail 47-19.
Danielle Carne was instrumental with 16 points to be named the grand final most valuable player while Emma Henderson scored 11 with three baskets coming from beyond the arc.
Carne was a standout performer through the weekend with 91 points, the fourth most of the tournament.
Raiders Green claimed the division four title after defeating Pinjarra Power 32-22 on Monday behind Rebecca Benson’s dead-eye shooting.
The Barking Owls sharpshooter scored 11 points in the decider on her way to a competition-high 133 points, including 24 triples.
Katie Woodhams scored 63 points as the seventh-leading point scorer for the competition.
Raiders Gold endured a tough campaign, managing just one victory across their six fixtures to finish sixth in the standings.

They ended their tournament on a high with a four-point win over Newdegate led by Anita Reca who scored a floor-high 17 points.
Raiders finished fourth in division three after managing only just one win from their four games.
Their sole victory came in round three against Waroona Redbacks after recovering from a one-point half-time deficit to win 25-22.
Jasmyne Jones scored a game-high 10 points and was the standout for her Raiders team.
