Crystal Blues notched their sixth victory of the season after prevailing in a tight contest against Sonics in round eight of the Albany Basketball Association on Tuesday night.

In a low-scoring affair Crystal Blues were able to hold on in a tense final few minutes to secure a 25-21 victory.

The margin never got above four points in the second half after Crystal Blues held a narrow two-point advantage at half-time.

With five minutes left in the game Aleesha Narkle reduced the margin to two for Sonics, however Isabella De Giambattista sunk both her free throws in the final minutes to seal the four-point win and help Crystal Blues remain on top.

Crystal Blues hit the front midway through the half and they never gave up the advantage from there.

Giambattista dropped nine points in the win and Casey Griffiths added eight to go with a strong defensive performance.

Valerie Corbett led the way for Sonics on both ends of the floor as she hit seven points.

A powerful first half from Valkyries helped them record a comfortable 22-point victory over Raiders’ under-18s.

Valkyries led by 26 at half-time and continued on in the second half, running out 70-48 winners.

Macy Lane was a dominant force in the win with 18 points and Indi Weeden (16 points) was a solid contributor and Nardia Humphries (13) and Enya Marques (10) also scored heavily.

De Giambattista tried her best for Raiders, hitting 18 points while Abbi Gibson chipped in with 14.
