Country Championships: Avon star and ex-Subiaco player Kaidyn Fullgrabe claims two major division one awards

Former Subiaco midfielder Kaidyn Fullgrabe has been rewarded for his stellar performance at the country football championships, claiming two of the top division one awards. Fullgrabe, who has spent the past two years playing for Cunderdin in the Avon Football Association, was the star of division one as his side upset South West to win their first title since 2002. The 27-year-old won the Nutrien Ag Solutions medal as the best-and-fairest player in the division 1 grand final as Avon won by 12 points at Fremantle Community Bank Oval on Sunday. He kicked an important goal and won a stack of clearances in the heavy conditions as his side upset the 2022 champions. After the grand final triumph Fullgrabe was also awarded the Jock Coleman Medal as the best-and-fairest player in division 1 of the annual championships. Fullgrabe, who played more than 100 WAFL games, capped his big few days with selection in the Allstars team alongside Avon teammates Andrew Fisher and Corey Dixon while Tom Lee was named coach. Lee won the Dick Smith Memorial Award as coach of the championships, leading Avon to a breakthrough division 1 title after they were thumped by South West in last year’s decider. South West were represented by Shaun Crane, Zac Trigwell, Mitch Tenardi and Tom Gorter in the Allstars. Donnybrook’s Trigwell enjoyed a superb championships and was claimed the rising star award. Central Midlands Coastal star Rhys Waters, who hails from Jurien Bay, received the Bud Byfield Medal as the fairest and best player in division two. Esperance’s Richard Bourne won the Jock Beattie Medal as the best-and-fairest player across the division three matches. Goldfields, who claimed division two honours, were recognised for their strong championships with five players in the Allstars team. Alex Stuart, Jordan Delbridge, Jake Nuich, Bailey Taylor and Tom Gillett were picked from the division 2 champions.
