Councillor’s loyalty awarded

Toby HusseyAlbany Advertiser

An Albany councillor says she is humbled to be recognised for her years of service to the city.

Cr Alison Goode has picked up the WA Local Government Association’s Long and Loyal Service Award for her work as an Albany councillor since 1995.

Ms Goode was the second woman councillor in Albany’s history and served as mayor for eight years.

“I’m a little speechless,” she said. “I thank the electors because if it wasn’t for the fact they show trust in me and trust my ability to get the job done, they wouldn’t vote for me. “I’m looking forward to the next few years of lots more work.”

At the same ceremony the City of Albany received a silver medal for its commitment to the 3 Steps to Safety program.
