The Saints finished convincing 43-point winners in their round-eight contest against Mt Barker to sit two games clear on top. Luke Pickering and Robert Farmer starred in the win with three goals each. The Bulls led by one point at the first change before the Saints kicked three unanswered goals in the second term to hold a 19-point advantage at half-time. Both sides could only manage one point each in the third stanza but three unanswered goals in the final term from the Saints ensured they ran out convincing 7.10 (52) to 1.3 (9) winners. Pickering and Farmer were instrumental in the win while Jesse Owens slotted the other major. Jacob Sadler kicked the Bulls’ only goal in the first term as they fell to just their second defeat of the season. Roos jumped to second on the ladder after their emphatic 59-point over the Eagles last Thursday afternoon. Despite being inaccurate in front of goal, Roos finished 7.17 (59) to 0.0 (0) victors. After kicking five goals in the first half, the Roos kicked 2.9 in the second half to notch their fifth win of the season. Clay Harrington booted two goals. Cats improved their finals chances after a thrilling one-point victory over Crows to move on to equal points with fourth-placed Crows last Thursday afternoon. At half-time, Cats led by eight points. They managed to hold on in the last term despite Crows kicking two goals to one. Brock Lathbury kicked three goals in the 7.6 (48) to 7.5 (47) win while Tom Bradshaw kicked three goals for Crows. A strong first half guided Denmark-Walpole to an 18-point victory against Swans as they notched their first win of the season last Friday night. Denmark-Walpole kicked four goals to one in the first half on their way to a 5.1 (31) to 2.1 (13) victory. Ryan Hick kicked two goals in the win. Mt Barker remain on top by percentage in the under-12s competition after winning 8.4 (52) to 1.4 (10) over Denmark-Walpole White on Saturday morning. Swans notched their sixth win of the season to sit equal on points at the top after prevailing 7.7 (49) to 1.1 (7) against Denmark-Walpole Black. Eagles improved their top-four chances with 5.4 (34) to 2.2 (14) victory over Bulldogs while Saints defeated Cats 5.5 (35) to 2.2 (14) in the other under-12s fixture.
