Community radio station keen to drive up membership and listener numbers with market visit

Great Southern FM is urging visitors to the Boat Shed Markets on Sunday to come say hello and have a crack at matching the voice of presenters to pictures. Members of the community radio station will be set up at the markets to promote the station as part of efforts to grow its membership and sponsorship base. The station has been broadcasting for nearly 30 years and continues to be entirely driven by its members and volunteers which keep it operating around-the-clock every day of the week. Live programs keep listeners entertained from 6am until late, with most of them continuing to be locally produced and presented. Presenters on the stations range from those still in high school through to 88-year-old John Stephens “I believe I speak for the presenters to say we do what we do because we love music; music that crosses generations from the 1920s to today,” station receptionist and presenter Barb Jeremic said. “On top of that, we’re local to Albany and Great Southern and able to promote events, services and not-for-profit agencies.” The station will be at the markets from 9am to 1pm on Sunday.
