Collingwood Park’s finals hopes over in the Albany and Districts Cricket Association A-grade competition

Collingwood Park’s finals hopes are officially over after Manypeaks sealed their spot in the Albany and Districts Cricket Association top three with a bonus point victory in round 11 at Turf North on Saturday. Peaks sit 25 points clear in third place with four rounds remaining but Park’s slim chances of making the finals are over given they only have three matches left to play. The four-wicket victory over Park was set up by a terrific bowling performance before Peaks held their nerve in the run chase to secure a bonus point and move within three points of second spot. Park made a shaky start batting first as they slumped to 5-35 with Peaks youngster Jack Stephens ripping through the top order. After the early loss of Mitch Woods, fellow opener Jarrad Fuller ticked the scoreboard along for Park making 21. However he was bowled to be the first of Stephen’s wickets, and that triggered a collapse as they lost 4-5. Paul Donaldson trapped Brad Bootsma in front and then Stephens dismissed Leroy van den Dool and Jed Schwarzbach in the same over. Nathan Dovey and Rory Luscombe steadied the ship briefly adding 30 runs before the latter was stumped. Experienced duo Dovey and Matt Heberle took their side towards triple figures but Dovey was caught short of his crease for 22. Heberle added some respectability to the scoreboard with 39 off 62 balls and Andre Gabriel chipped in with 15 as they added 42 but they were bowled out for 132. Stephens was terrific with 3-7 from six overs and was well supported by Charlie Walters (2-18 off 10 overs) and Donaldson (2-31). Park spearhead Josh Dallimore claimed the first two wickets as Peaks fell to 2-34 but Donaldson and Regan Poett took control of the chase. That pair added 41 to put Peaks back on top before Dallimore claimed his third scalp, knocking over Donaldson for 17. Peaks slumped to 5-95 after Poett was caught behind for 25 and Kane Pinney was stumped but Ethan Drew and Ryan Kinnear got their side across the line. Drew and Kinnear came together with four wickets in hand but shared in a 40-run partnership to secure the win in the 36th over. Drew was unbeaten on 24 and Kinnear added 10 as Peaks notched a sixth one-day win. Dallimore was impressive with 3-24 from his 8.1 overs while Jackson Davidson snared 2-21.
