Coffee sales at Naked Bean campaign to support Albany Community Hospice during November
Your daily coffee could support Albany’s vital palliative care service thanks to a new partnership between Albany Community Hospice and Naked Bean.
The cafe has committed to donating 50c from every coffee it sells this month to ACH, as well as $2 from every 1kg bag of coffee beans sold.
Naked Bean co-owner Simon Maylor said the cafe had been looking for a way to give back to the Albany community “that supports us so loyally”.
“Being an active contributor to the community means a great deal to us,” he said.
“This is a pilot trial for supporting local non-profits, if it’s a success we will be running more of these with other non-profits.”
He said he hoped the campaign would raise awareness as well as funds.
“Raising funds is a vital part of the initiative, but just as important is raising awareness of this invaluable community service and celebrating the countless volunteer hours that go into ensuring this service remains sustainable,” he said.
“The ceiling is the limit to what we can raise, and we hope the community can get behind it to help.
“As well as donating a portion of coffee sales, we will also have donation tins available for customers to pledge further support.”
ACH clinical manager Fiona Jane said everyone at the hospice was thankful for the support.
“A 50-cent donation for every coffee sold for the month of November will make a big difference to helping us fund the gap in our costs,” she said.
“Current daily costs per bed at (the) hospice is $1359 of which, the hospice needs to find funds to cover the gap of $284 per day.
“The hospice is committed to providing care, free of charge as it has done since it opened in 1991 and, to continue this, the hospice needs to raise approximately 25 per cent of its operational costs each year.”
