Club impresses at champs
Albany Swim Club dominated the Great Southern Regional Championships in Wagin last Saturday.
The club brought home 75 gold, 56 silver and 52 bronze medals after sending 48 swimmers to the regional meet.
The swimmers, aged between 8 and 18 years, competed in 17C weather with showers throughout the day.
Individual meet records were broken during competition, with Tom Gawned, Teleya Beattie and Gabriela Cannon producing standout results.
Tom set new records for the 13 years 50m freestyle, backstroke and 100m backstroke.
Teleya, 15, set record times in the 11-and-over 800m and 400m freestyle and 400m individual medley.
Gabriela set new records in the 15-and-over category for the 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle and backstroke and 200m individual medley.
The club also registered 56 personal best times throughout the meet from a total of 349 swims.
