The City of Albany has won the Local Government Achieve award for its Cycle City Albany Strategy at the Your Move awards in Perth this week.

The awards, held every two years, recognise outstanding achievements and contributions of local governments, schools and workplaces involved in the Department of Transports ‘Your Move’ program.

City of Albany Manager Recreation Services Samantha Stevens said she was incredibly proud to accept the award on behalf of the City of Albany.

"The award recognises 5 years of work towards transforming Albany into a cycling destination and acknowledges the significant collaboration between the City of Albany and community groups," she said.

"The Cycle City Albany Strategy has been the platform for a number of initiatives, including the employment of the first regional Travel Smart Officer, improved bike parking and skill development workshops.

The Your Move awards also recognised Albany Primary School for their Your Move journey focusing on making active changes including the introduction of a walking school bus, Your Move student team and special events.
