City of Albany to welcome new executive director of corporate and commercial services

Former Shire of Chittering chief executive Mathew Gilfellon is set to take on a key leadership role at the City of Albany as its new executive director of corporate and commercial services. Mr Gilfellon was the Shire of Chittering’s chief executive from 2019 and was Shire of Dumbleyung chief executive for six years and Shire of Mt Marshall chief executive for two. He was the chair of the Muchea Industrial Park Working Group, a State Library of WA board member and chair of the Library Audit and Risk Committee. Outside of work, Mr Gilfellon has volunteered at his local bushfire brigades. He will replace Duncan Olde as one of the City of Albany’s executives in October. “I’m really looking forward to moving to Albany with my family and being part of a wonderful community and enjoying everything the region has to offer,” Mr Gilfellon said. “The City of Albany has a strong reputation and I’ll be committed to assisting council, the CEO and the team in continuing the great work they’re doing and supporting Albany to continue to grow and prosper.” City chief executive Andrew Sharpe said Mr Gilfellon’s knowledge and experience would be an asset to the community. “With qualifications in business, business law, accounting, legal studies and commerce, combined with his previous sector experience, we’re very pleased to have Matthew joining our team,” he said. “Along with council, I’m looking forward to working with Matthew and know that he will have a very positive impact on our community.”
