City of Albany offers $20,000 grants to attract events for region
Event organisers can apply for up to $20,000 from the City of Albany as part of two new funding rounds to support major regional and community events in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis.
The funds aim to bolster economic recovery and connect the community after months of social isolation.
Grants up to $20,000 will be available under the Regional Events Sponsorship fund to help attract major events.
Community Event Grants up to $5000 across two rounds are also available for grassroots organisers.
City of Albany acting community services executive director Nathan Watson said the events helped build a sense of community pride.
“The easing of COVID-19 restrictions is allowing events to restart, so we’re pleased to be offering these grants and hope they will support successful and vibrant events in our community again,” he said.
The Regional Events Sponsorship grants and the first round of Community Event Grants are open until August 7 for events held from October 1 to February 28.
The second round of Community Event Grants will open on November 16.
