Cause of injury to dog being investigated by the police

Albany Advertiser

Albany police responded to a report of a dog attack this morning.

Senior Constable Jeff Daniels said police were alerted to the incident and examined the yard.

“We had a report from a dog owner who said their five-year-old Doberman received a large incision down its midriff,” he said.

“We have gone to the yard and conducted thorough examinations but at this stage we are unable to determine where and if the injury took place or how it happened.”

Sen. Const. Daniels said there was no direct evidence of animal cruelty.

“We have to establish if an offence has a occurred, it’s possible the dog has injured itself and perhaps less likely that someone has inflicted the injury.

“As to how, we have nothing to establish its cause.”

The dog was taken to a vet.
