North Albany junior and Carlton forward Mitch McGovern played an important role as his side held on in the dying stages to record a memorable two-point victory over Geelong at GMHBA Stadium on Saturday night.

The Blues started heavy underdogs against the Cats, with McGovern helping his side jump out of the blocks to kick the first four goals, including a big McGovern roost from a Patrick Dangerfield turnover.

McGovern finished with two goals from five touches to go with two marks and two tackles as the Blues recorded one of their best victories with him in the team since he crossed from Adelaide.

Fremantle superstar and Lake Grace junior Nat Fyfe again led from the front to be named in the Dockers’ best in their 29-point loss to Port Adelaide in the second game of a double-header at Metricon Stadium on Sunday night.

Fyfe racked up 23 touches, four tackles, three marks and three inside-50s to go with a last-quarter goal as he spent time resting as a deep forward.

The Dockers, however, fell to their third straight loss, under new coach Justin Longmuir.
