Callum Harper and Ben Keen claim Ross Manley and Zac Hamment memorials respectively

Ben Keen and Callum Harper took out the top honours in the Albany City Kart Club’s Memorial Day in honour of former members Ross Manley and Zac Hamment on Sunday. More than 40 drivers carved up the track for the November club meeting, with the memorial races highlighting the event. Harper claimed his first win in the Ross Manley feature race, crossing the line first in the 12-lap final ahead of 14 senior Yamaha competitors with a time of 8min. 50.417sec. He was 1.620sec. clear of Brandon Elliot in second place followed by Seth Collins who crossed the line in third. The top five was rounded out by Dion Hounsfield and Jake Jurgielewicz. Harper took the lead in the first lap and was never headed, recording his best time in the sixth lap at 47.279sec. Three cadet 9 drivers took part in the Zac Hamment Memorial Race as Ben Keen proved too strong for his rivals, taking out the top spot with a time of 8:04.944. He was 1.641sec. ahead of the second-placed George Dines, and Jack Panizza rounded out the top three. In the KA4 junior light division, Ayden Tempany prevailed in the eight-lap race ahead of William Panizza and Grady Crofts. Riley Munro was the winner of the KA3 senior light division and Shane Burns emerged victorious in the KA3 senior medium category. Peter Apostoles recorded a time of 5:32.527 in the tag 125 restricted medium division in a field of four drivers. Alan Griffiths was the sole competitor in the tag restricted light category, finishing with a time of 5:32.748. Albany youngster Cody Colmer blitzed the field in the cadet 12 division with a time of 6:28.933, finishing ahead of Alexander Hills and Hamish Crofts.
