Caledonians continue red-hot form in Great Southern Soccer Association division one competition

A Levi Clay hat-trick propelled Caledonians to a 6-0 win against Stirling Rangers in the Great Southern Soccer Association men’s division one competition on Saturday.

The emphatic win put them three points clear on top of the table, having won all six of their opening matches in 2023.

Kai Thupbb-Probst, Oliver Trichilo and Joseph Love all hit the scoresheet with a goal each while a rigid defence held their opposition scoreless at the other end.

Meanwhile, Rovers were 3-1 winners against Phoenix as Brad Bielecki found the back of the net twice and Michael Draper slammed home a single goal in their fifth win of the season.

Berwyn Vermuelen was the sole goal scorer for Phoenix.

Polonia and Bayswater played out a scoreless draw as Polonia consolidated fourth spot.

In the women’s division one competition on Friday Mt Barker enjoyed a goal fest in their round six clash, putting 21 goals past Sonics to remain undefeated.

Leah Field bagged five goals while Gabby White chipped in with four of her own.

Libby Morris was the third player to score a hat-trick with three goals to her name.

Meanwhile, a Shiarne Spaanderman brace gave Phoenix a 2-0 win against Sharks and Caledonians eased past Polonia with a 3-0 victory.

In men’s division two competition Rovers were 2-0 winners against Phoenix while Bayswater forfeited their match against Polonia and were awarded a 3-0 win and three points.

In women’s division two and three results Bayswater defeated Stirling Rangers 3-0, Sharks thumped Denmark Dream 5-0, Caledonians were 1-0 winners against Denmark Carnaby’s, Phoenix cruised past Rovers with a 6-0 win, and Denmark Rezzies edged past Mt Barker 1-0.

In the men’s division three and four competition, Bayswater got on top over Phoenix 4-1, Old Boys were 5-2 victors against Caledonians, Rovers Vets won 8-0 against Griffins, Denmark prevailed over Rovers 3-2 and Polonia moved past Cross Keys with a 3-1 win.
