Caleb Haua wins Joe Menegola Award as most outstanding young player in ADCA

Promising young all-rounder Caleb Haua has added a feather to his cap after winning the prestigious Joe Menegola Award for the 2021-22 season.

The Joe Menegola trophy is awarded to the most outstanding young cricketer and also recognises the player’s capability as an ambassador in the junior ranks of the Albany and Districts Cricket Association.

The Royals dynamo has had a lot of success this season after recently claiming the under-17 premiership as part of his team’s sparkling grand final win against Manypeaks in March.

The talented Haua snared 10 wickets and scored 231 runs in the under-17 competition as he showed his versatility with bat and ball.

He was also part of the Lions’ successful under-17 T20 side back in December.

Lions teammate Ryley Valli took out the player of the grand final honours in their under-17 premiership as he opened the batting and retired not out on 51 runs from 63 balls.

The all-rounder claimed 3-15 off just five overs with the ball to cap a great performance.

Manypeaks player Jakob Douglas was awarded the Champion Player award for the under-17 season and also won the batting aggregate with 621 runs.

The Players Player award went to Royals young gun Teague Valli, as voted by his peers.

The bowling aggregate trophy was taken out by O’Shea Durack from Collingwood Park (19 wickets) and Lions’ Matt Thompson won the bowling average award with 9.82.

In the ADCA under-14 awards, the player of the grand final was awarded to all-rounder Ollie Douglas for his 2-7 from four overs and 30 runs off 39 balls.

Youngster Regan Christensen took home the coveted Champion Player award after scoring 338 runs and taking 14 wickets during the season.

Redbacks player Buddy Robinson bagged a plethora of awards to cap a fine season, winning the batting average (68.2), the bowling average (4.69) and the bowling aggregate (16 wickets).

In the under-15 girls competition for Railways, Emma Dolan won the Player of the Tournament and Tess Badger claimed the Player of The Future Award.

For Mt Barker, The Player of the Tournament was Charlotte Ballard, with Nadia Moolman winning the Player of the Future Award.
