Bushfire information sought

Tim EdmundsAlbany Advertiser

Albany detectives are calling for information regarding a suspicious bushfire which was extinguished by authorities on Monday night.

Crews moved quickly to attend the blaze in scrubland opposite a new housing subdivision in McKail, with nearly 20 firefighters bringing the fire under control soon after it was sparked at 6pm.

The fire comes after two blazes last Monday in Orana and King River, which began within 30 minutes of each other.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Kris McDonald said police were now investigating the third fire and urged people with information to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

He said the investigation had not determined so far if the fires were linked and the investigation remained active.

Anyone with information on the fires is urged to phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
