Katanning’s Zavier Potter is rallying to provide a light bulb recycling program in the town.

The seven-year-old is raising money through a charity website to help fund a proper light bulb recycling program in Katanning.

“At the moment, our country town doesn't have light bulb recycling, so light bulbs are just going into landfill,” he said.

“All of the mercury can come out and pollute the environment, and the aluminium and glass is getting wasted.”

Zavier wants to raise $300 and recycle more than 300 globes and 60 fluorescent tubes.

“If we raise even more money, we can get more boxes to keep the program going,” he said.
