Walking into Perth’s Pan Pacific Hotel last Thursday night rocking a “pretty little pink bow-tie”, Bob Savage, better know as Bob the Painter, could not imagine how he would be leaving.

Mr Savage was crowned as regional WA’s best painter during the 2019 Master Painter and Decorator Of The Year awards.

Not only did Bob the Painter take out the prestigious top gong, the Albany-based business also snared the top prize in three other categories.

“It was fantastic. I was nearly doing backflips and all sorts, I jumped up and did the big, ‘Yes’,” Mr Savage said.

“They got me to do a speech in front of everyone. I really dedicated it to the employees that work for us, the boys, they’ve always been very good painters.”

But Mr Savage said the night went beyond the accolades.

“It was Hollywood theme, so I wore a pretty little pink bow-tie with my black suit,” he said.

“It was absolutely fantastic being among all the painters from around WA, just sharing ideas and stuff like that.”

Fellow Albany business Lunar Painting Services walked away with a win in the New Constructions — Commercial Over $1 million category.

And Albany’s Roadrunner Painting and Decorating took home the prize for Repaints — Housing up to $20,000.
