Sporting a big blue beard, Albany’s Kev Wellman is turning heads in the name of Beyond Blue and his brother, the late Glen Wellman, in an upcoming fundraiser.

Mr Wellman has dyed his treasured beard blue and will shave it off to raise funds to support those with depression and anxiety.

He said hosting a fundraiser for mental health foundation Beyond Blue might save lives like Glen’s, who lost a long battle with mental illness three years ago.

“We lost Glen to depression on the 31st of July, 2015 when he took his own life,” he said.

“Hopefully with the money raised, if we even just save one life then it will be worth it.”

On Saturday, Mr Wellman will take out the clippers at Albany’s Stirling Club, where there will be entertainment from 6pm.

“We have six great bands playing from 6pm-12am and a few raffles to be won,” he said.

“My big shave will be at 9pm and I am hoping that people will show their generosity at the door.”

With $5000 raised so far, donations can be made at the reception at Castlehow Elec-trical on 25 Minna Street in Albany.
