A spectacular five goals from Polonia A star Connor Bunce helped lift his side to an emphatic round two victory in the Great Southern Soccer Association men’s division one competition on Saturday. Bunce’s five goals were part of an onslaught in the first half as Polonia A netted eight goals and went on to finish dominant 11-4 winners in their clash against Caledonians B. It took just under two minutes for Bunce to net his first goal and in the blink of an eye he had a second which came from a deflection. Deacon Mastalerz found the back of the net one minute later to continue Polonia’s dominance before Cameron Spence got over the back of the defence to slot another home as Polonia led 4-0 in the opening 10 minutes. Liam Murdock crossed a beautiful ball and Bunce rose to head his third goal in before adding a fourth soon after. Murdock then took a terrific run down the left side and fired the ball past the goalie; however, the first half belonged to Bunce as he slotted a goal through the Caledonians goal keeper’s leg to complete his remarkable five-goal haul. Caledonians pinched a goal back but they trailed 8-1 at the break. The second half started in similar fashion to the first half as Kyle Taylor found the back of the net and then Murdock had a second in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Eh Gay slotted his second goal for Caledonians and they had a third goal minutes later after Polonia conceded an own goal while Karrar Muhammed netted the last goal for his side. Nathan Griffiths weaved his way through traffic and added the final goal for Polonia as they marched to a big win and remain undefeated. A brace from Kieran Loveridge guided Caledonians A team to a convincing 5-0 win over Rovers B while Levi Clay and Dylan Cook also found the back of the net after their side led 3-0 at half-time. Rovers A are also undefeated after a commanding 16-0 win over Royals B as Brad Champan slotted four goals and Tom McKenzie netted three. Mitch Sallo and Justin Bilecki scored two each while Dan Lee and David Scuka also found the back of the net in the romp. Baysywater A defeated Phoenix B 5-1 thanks to four second-half goals. A powerful second half from Polonia A guided them to an 8-2 win over Rovers in the women’s first division after only leading 3-2 at half-time on Friday night. Phoenix A defeated Phoenix B 3-1 while a brace from Oliva McEwan guided Denmark A to an 8-0 win over Mt Barker.
