Big W responds to rumours

Albany Advertiser

Woolworths has confirmed it is not considering opening a Big W department store in Albany.

Rumours have circulated on social media for several months about whether the popular retail shop would open in Albany, which is already home to a Target and K-mart stores.

The rumour was further sparked by the $20 million sale of Brooks Gardens shopping centre, with its new owner M/Group promising a redevelopment of the Chester Pass Road site.

However, a spokeswoman for Woolworths Limited told the Albany Advertiser the company was not considering opening a store in Albany.

“Albany is not a location we are looking at right now,” she said.
