Bethel new kids on country week block
New contenders will represent Albany for the first time next week at 2019 School Country Week.
A group of eager students from Bethel Christian School will don their school colours at the sporting carnival in Perth.
They will join North Albany Senior High school, Great Southern Grammar and former champions Albany Senior High School for a thrilling week of competition between regional WA’s top sporting schools.
Bethel’s inaugural captain Chris-Juan Grove said she was thrilled to be competing.
“I am so pleased to be doing this, to be a part of the first group to ever represent Bethel is so exciting. It’s a big deal for everyone to say I went to Country Week for my school,” she said. “We were all pretty pleased, and for me to be able to represent my school as captain is a pretty big accomplishment for me.
“We didn’t think we would ever be able to represent our school in Country Week — we thought we would have to move schools, so to remain at Bethel and represent our school is really special.”
She said the Bethel students were eager to prove themselves, especially because they knew how well the other Albany high schools had done at the event.
