Barking Owls on fire from beyond the arc to sink Tigers in dominant second half display

A three-point shooting display helped Barking Owls crush rivals Tigers, claiming their fourth win of the men’s A-grade season in the process. An explosive second half from Owls, including eight long-range baskets, was the highlight of their round-seven clash on Tuesday night. Holding a single point advantage at half-time, Owls blew their opponents away in the final 25 minutes with a superb shooting display to record a comfortable 27-point victory. Owls more than doubled Tigers’ score in the second half for a 71-44 result. Justin Benson began the second-half onslaught with a triple to stretch the margin to double figures for the first time and his side quickly raced clear, the margin ballooning to 20 points midway through the period. The damage was done from beyond the arc by Tom Powell (19 points) who hit three triples. Luke McGuire (18) nailed four threes and Benson (13) also scored three from long range. They were well supported at the offensive end by Jordi O’Neill (17). Mason Tion toiled hard for Tigers with three long bombs in his 18 points but his team had no answers for the slick Owls. Ambassadors moved to second on the standings after handing Denmark Magpies their third straight loss of the season. After leading narrowly at half-time, Ambassadors edged clear in the second half to win 48-33. Caleb Carman led with 18 points while youngster Austin Beeck hit four triples in a 16-point haul. Luke Wilson and Jed Finigan both dropped 10 points for the Magpies who slipped to sixth as a result. Railways Tigers are now three points clear on top after pulling away from The Sharks in the second half of their contest, thanks to Henry Alforque. Alforque finished with 23 points as he helped Railways turn a two-point half time margin into a 57-48 victory. Jake Louthean was the Sharks’ best contributor with 20 points. Sonics continue to impress in their first season, as they took care of Raiders under-18 development squad. Led by 26 points from Kye Griffiths, Sonics proved too strong 66-45.
