Albany store to host Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea for a cause close to home
The Bath Tub team will be pulling out all the stops for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea next month in honour of their friend and boss, who was diagnosed with breast cancer two months ago.
All are welcome to join in the fundraiser at the York Street store from 9am on June 12, with a raffle and door prizes up for grabs.
For a donation to the Cancer Council, the team is offering a cuppa with sweet and savoury treats provided by neighbouring store Teede and Co. Customers are also invited to bring their own cupcakes to be judged by other customers, with the best creations winning a prize.
Staff member Shelley Sypko said the fundraiser was especially close to their hearts this year as their boss Laura Hawkins was having chemotherapy in Perth.
“It’s in honour of our boss, our friend and the founder of this business, Laura,” she said.
“We want her to know that we are here for her 100 per cent and we are hoping to raise $1000, but if we raise more that will be fabulous.
“It’s important to raise funds for cancer, especially here in Albany where we don’t have a lot of facilities. She is having to travel to Perth and stay in Perth.
“When something is close to home like it is for us, you want to do something.
“It matters even more when someone you know and care about has been afflicted by cancer.”
The store will donate 10 per cent from every sale made on the day to the Cancer Council. Donations can be made in store or online at bit.ly/3hXacZI.
