The annual bikers charity run will return on December 14 to bring Christmas joy to Albany and raise funds for the Salvation Army Christmas Funds Appeal.

Organised by the Albany Section of the Vintage Motorcycle Club of WA, the event is now in its 38th year and about 250 riders are expected to take part in the charity toy run.

More than $4500 was raised in 2022, and in 2023 more than $6000.

In a deviation from the last 37 years, the toy run will now start at Parade Street before heading out to Frenchman Bay and finishing at the Albany town square.

Organiser Lynton Morgan said there is a big enthusiastic community of motorcyclists in Albany who will ride for the good Christmas cause.

“Nearly 40 years ago it was just a few people who got together and went for a ride around, and they donated a soft toy to the Salvos,” he said.

“And it’s just grown from there — it’s sort of got bigger and bigger over the years.”

Soft toys, dry food, essentials and cash donations to the Salvation Army Christmas Funds Appeal can be made on the day at the Albany town square.

Riders will start rolling on Parade Street at 9am, and will finish at Albany town square at 11am.
