ANA 2023: Royals storm to crushing win against Griffins, Narrikup push past Kangas and Bullets win again

Royals Saints 1 notched a thumping 39-goal win against Griffins 1 to record their fourth win in the Albany Netball Association A1 competition on Saturday afternoon. The reigning premiers snatched control of the contest early, charging out to a dominant 22-9 opening quarter and they never faltered from that point on. The shooting combination of Charlotte Edwards and Nardia Humphries worked wonders in the goal circle, playing a significant role in the crushing 75-36 win. Royals Saints had jumped out to a 37-22 lead at half-time and piled on more scoring pressure after the main break. Charlotte Edwards dominated in a rampant third-term, hitting 11 of her 15 attempts while Humphries chipped in with six of her eight attempts from inside the circle. Royals Saints held their opposition to a paltry eight goals in the final term and added 21 of their own to keep the Griffins winless after seven rounds. Zoe Diletti, Jasmine Butterworth and Ellen Smith worked hard as the primary attackers, but were afforded little opportunity with Royals Saints controlling the tempo through mid-court across the four quarters. Royals Saints centerre Sophie Loveridge intercepted superbly, while vice-captain Chelsi Mier and Jorja Ward also shone in the victory along with Humphries and Charlotte Edwards. Meanwhile, Narrikup 1 were too strong in their 11-goal win over Kangas 1, set up by a dominant 34-goal first half. Rylee Davis and Daisy Stewart-Morgan did the majority of Narrikup’s damage, outscoring their opposition 29-25 in the second-half for a fifth win of their campaign. Narrikup currently sit on top of the A1 ladder, ahead of Bullets 1 on percentage while Royals Saints trail behind in third. Bullets kept the pressure on the ladder leaders with a hard-fought 40-34 victory over Railways 1. Railways trailed by two goals at the main break and both sides wrestled for control in an even third quarter, each scoring 10 goals apiece with Bullets leading 31-29 at the last change. However, a strong defensive effort guided Bullets to a memorable win, holding their opposition to five goals while netting nine of their own.
