The second half of the Albany Basketball Association men’s and women’s A-grade season will start tonight as action returns to the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre after the Christmas break.

The battle for the top four spots in the men’s A-grade competi-tion will be exciting, with five teams separated by four points, from fourth place to eighth place.

Ambassadors are in fourth place with a 5-4 win-loss record as they prepare to do battle with Pelicans at 7pm.

Pelicans will be high on confidence after their impressive 64-22 win over Kinjarling Thunder in the last game of December and they will chase back-to-back wins, which would propel them higher up the ladder.

Ambassadors come into the clash having won three of their past four matches, downing last season’s grand finalists Barking Owls by two points to claim their biggest scalp in December.

In the other round 11 fixtures, the second-placed Tigers face Raiders’ under-18 development squad at 6pm, while in the two 8pm games the Thunder tackle Crabs before Owls and Knights meet in a juicy top-four encounter.

In the women’s A-grade competition, both Panthers and Magpies enjoy a 7-3 record after 10 rounds, with Raiders the first opponent for Panthers in the second half of the season at 6pm.

Flames will be out to end their 10-game losing streak against Magpies at 7pm.
