Amazing South Coast Tourism announce Denmark Visitor Centre to stay open during July for school holidays

The doors of the Denmark Visitor Centre will remain open throughout July as part of an interim transition by Amazing South Coast Tourism. The tourism body is in the process of moving away from visitor servicing to increase its focus on destination marketing. In December, ASCT announced it would no longer run the Denmark Visitor Centre from June 30. However this week, ASCT executive officer Peter Grigg said they would keep the centre open until July 31 to cover the school holidays. “The ASCT has looked at a number of options with the Shire of Denmark fully aware of the June 30 timeline,” he said. “This change in direction of the ASCT is to ensure that visitor servicing continues in Denmark. “Is there still a need for face-to-face visitor services to be provided in Denmark? Most definitely and we are willing to work with and support the Shire and potential partners to progress the best way to do this.” Mr Grigg said he wanted to ensure the Denmark Visitor Centre provided a high level service to visitors. “The ASCT will continue to maintain the Denmark Visitor Centre website and the online booking service to the benefit of our operators. Promotional and marketing benefits will not change. “The role of visitor centres across Australia and the model in which they operate is changing. Visitor needs and expectations are also changing. More visitors are researching and booking online. There are many online booking platforms for consumers sourcing accommodation and tourism experiences and an increasing number of visitors are booking direct.”
