Albany’s Tilly O’Doherty raises more than $2000 as part of the World’s Greatest Shave

Albany’s Tilly O’Doherty has raised $2430 as part of this year’s World’s Greatest Shave. The eight-year-old raised the money for the Leukaemia Foundation, enough for five regional families to travel to Perth for two to three weeks for treatment. Tilly said she wanted to thank all those who donated and helped her reach her impressive total. “It felt really exciting,” she said. “When I saw the shaver I thought: ‘Am I going to regret it?’” “But when I had it done it was really fun, and dad had a cry.” Tilly’s father Kieran O’Doherty admitted to tearing up as Tilly shaved her head. “She’s made a great effort and is well on her way to making a big difference in other people’s lives at eight years old, “ he said. “She has a great selection of head scarves to keep her head warm. “She did a talk on Facebook and said if you believe in yourself you can make anything happen, which is very wise coming from an eight-year-old. “We can all live by those words.” Tilly raised the total with the help of family and the Albany Community who donated generously. “I got online and mum made my own little inbox where I could email out to all my friends and family and let the know,” Tilly said.
