Albany’s Jordan Clark impresses across half-back as Fremantle hold on in a thriller against Port Adelaide

Former Railways junior Jordan Clark had one of his best performances for Fremantle as his side held off a fast-finishing Port Adelaide by eight points at Optus Stadium on Sunday.
The Power booted five of the last six goals of the match to give the Dockers an almighty scare, but it was their first three terms that ultimately won them the match.

Clark dazzled in the contest to finish with 29 disposals, nine intercepts, seven inside-50s, 418m gained and two score-involvements in the 15.9 (99) to 14.7 (91) victory.
Playing predominantly across half-back, the Claremont product was prolific in the first three quarters, providing rebound while cutting off the Power’s forward entries.

Speaking after the match, Fremantle coach Justin Longmuir said despite a shaky last quarter his defensive brigade worked well for most of the contest.
“They were put under siege a little bit because we lost our ascendancy with our ball movement and we lost our ascendancy around stoppages so we hung them out to dry a little bit,” he said.

“I thought the mix was pretty good down there and for large parts of the game they were able to hold off Port’s scoring and do a really good job.”
Meanwhile, ex-North Albany big man Darcy Cameron continued to impress for Collingwood as they held on to record a five-point win over the Gold Coast Suns at Metricon Stadium on Saturday.

Cameron finished with 15 disposals, 18 hit-outs, two contested marks, two inside 50s, three score-involvements and four intercepts in the tense 9.13 (67) to 8.14 (62) victory.
In the VFL, Denmark-Walpole product Kalin Lane featured in the Brisbane Lions’ 25-point win over the Footscray Bulldogs.

Lane booted a goal to go with seven possessions, four tackles and eight hit-outs.
Former Mt Barker speedster and Bulldogs draftee Arthur Jones also played in the contest, laying eight tackles and had three touches before getting injured.
Jones went to hospital for treatment after splitting his head open.
