Albany’s churches invite community to explore faith through Alpha program ahead of Easter

In the lead-up to Easter, Albany’s churches have opened their doors to the community through an initiative called ‘Alpha’, uniting together to pray for the city.
Leaders from the different churches have been meeting weekly to pray and jointly steer the community forward.
Pastor of Oceans Church Shaphan Williams said there was an unprecedented unity between Albany’s churches.
“Although each church is very different in expression, we all share the same heart and all agree that people don’t need ‘religion’, but desire ‘relationship’ with God through Jesus,” he said.
“Easter is the perfect opportunity for people to ‘explore faith’, and the churches in Albany have decided to run a program called ‘Alpha’, which is an open invitation to the community to ‘explore faith’ or for some to ‘re-discover faith’ in a safe, non-judgmental environment.”
Ps Shaphan said that Easter was the most attended church service of the year for many churches.
