Albany woman arrested over series of burglaries allegedly committed while she was on bail for another burglary

A 23-year-old Mira Mar woman has been charged over a series of burglaries allegedly committed while she was on bail. Bella-Shae Margaret Williams was arrested and charged last Tuesday after a police investigation into a string of reported burglaries in Mira Mar, including several at an apartment block on Cockburn Road. Ms Williams appeared in Albany Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on one count of aggravated home burglary, two counts of home burglary, seven counts of fraud, three counts of stealing, and one count of breach of bail. At the time of her arrest, she was on bail in relation to a host of other charges, including 16 counts of fraud and one other count of home burglary. A warrant was issued for her arrest after she failed to appear in court as scheduled on June 17. Police will say Ms Williams’ latest string of alleged offences began on June 6, and included gaining entry to a property on Middleton Road. There, it is alleged she stole computer devices, jewellery and mobile phones with an estimated value of more than $2500. In court last Wednesday, her defence lawyer Kyah Langdon submitted a bail application, which was declined by the magistrate. Ms Williams will remain in custody until her next court appearance on Thursday “We conducted an investigation which led to the identification of a suspect,” Albany Sgt Danny Richmond said. “It was in relation to 11 burglaries in Mira Mar, and most of them occurred during the day. It happened over about a week, and a lot of them were in the same apartment building.” “We received a couple of reports in relation to it, knocked on some doors and did a letter drop to get people to come forward if they had seen anything.”
