Albany trebles to jockey Brad Rawiller and trainer Roy Rogers

Jockey Brad Rawiller enjoyed a day out in Albany on Friday as the former Victorian finished with a winning treble. Rawiller has been making regular appearances in the Great Southern this season and landed three winners last week, two for Roy Rogers and one for Steve Wolfe. After placing second in the first race, Rawiller produced a great frontrunning ride aboard the Rogers-trained Luvachat in race two. Despite starting in barrier eight, Luvachat was sent straight to the lead and skipped clear in the home straight to win by more than two lengths in the Southern Wire Maiden (1230m). The well-supported What About Moses then gave Rawiller the second leg of his treble, after rocketing home from near-last to win race five. Lumped with 60kg, What About Moses settled eighth after jumping only fairly but Rawiller brought him to the outside as the field turned for home and they pounced on the leaders in the shadows of the post to win by a nose. Long Knife Brother ran a brave second, while Vrum was close behind in third. What About Moses, trained by Wolfe, clocked a final 600m sectional time of 34.89 seconds and recorded his first win in 377 days. Rawiller won the last race on the card when Count The Sessions found plenty in the final 200m, holding all his rivals at bay to win by 1.9 lengths. Count The Sessions, from the Rogers yard, won two races in the Great Southern last season but ended a frustrating run last week by claiming the Pacific Seeds Hyola Canola Handicap (1500m). Rogers finished the day with a treble as well after earlier progressive type Sneaky Fox notched a third successive victory. Hoop Jade McNaught took the four-year-old back to the cutaway in the home straight and they scored a commanding 2.4-length win over Blue Line in the Nufarm Handicap (1100m). Five-year-old mare Llessur made it back-to-back wins in the Great Southern in race four with Kyra Yuill was in the saddle. Yuill had two winners on the seven-race card after earlier guiding the Rebecca Wallrodt-trained Final Plan to victory. Wolfe had two winners on the day to take his tally to 22 in the Great Southern this season. Showaddywaddy made a smart return from a spell to edge Schoolwork by a half-head in the Nutrien Ag Solutions Hanidcap (1500m). It was a big weekend for Wolfe after he won the first and last races at Ascot on Saturday. Youngster River Rubicon scored a third straight win after taking care of a small field over 1200m before Bragwell won the final race impressively.
