Albany trainer Steve Wolfe’s top home form continued on Friday with winning treble, Lucy Fiore saluted twice

Albany trainer Steve Wolfe’s glowing run of form on his home track at Percy Spencer Racecourse continued on Friday after securing a winning treble, while Perth-based jockey Lucy Fiore saluted twice. Wolfe has notched an incredible 10 victories at Albany Racing Club in his last three outings to extend his lead at the top of the Albany Stockfeeds Trainer of the Year standings. Wolfe’s first win of the day was in the Pelicans Albany Maiden (1230m), when local hoop Alan Kennedy converted short-priced favourite Good Song ($1.90) to a thrilling victory, edging out a spirited Maybe Divine ($9) by a head. Kennedy made it back-to-back victories for the Wolfe stable when he steered Catch These Hands ($4.20) to a half-length triumph over Henry The Aviator ($2.70) in the Hygain Track Talk Handicap (1500m). The trainer of the year frontrunner nabbed his third when Natasha Faithful guided $10 outsider Naughty Gossip to a superb first-up win in the Hygain Regain Handicap (1100m) ahead of late-fading Our Girl Boram ($7.50). The opener belonged to Fiore, who guided the Brett Pope-trained Speedy Nova ($4) to the winning post before helping Roy Rogers’ Sacred Oath ($3,90) to a second successive victory in the last. Speedy Nova sat three-deep on the rail for most of the ride before storming to the lead with 200m to go and snatching victory from the nose of Moving On ($8) in the TABTouch — Share My Bet Maiden (1000m). Sacred Oath made it two wins from as many starts after Fiore fired the in-form five-year-old to a spectacular Skyracing.TV Provincial Championship Series Heat (1230m) win, firming him for a crack at the final. The red-hot gelding beat the fast-finishing Wolfe-trained Gage Roads ($11) and Peter Western’s Starauthoress ($26). Albany trainer Rebecca Bayliss did not go home empty-handed, with Madi Derrick clinching the Advanced Feeds Handicap (1600m) after Alan Smith scored an unlikely victory with the Ava Catarino-ridden stayer Oddoneout ($11) in the Albany Stock Feeds Handicap (2100m). Jockey Kyra Yiull was cautioned for using her whip on Moving On after the winning post, while in-form apprentice jockey Rosie Mahony was reprimanded for not riding her mount (Safe Rappa) to the finish line.
