Rising apprentice jockey Rosie Mahony rode a winning double at Albany on Friday, on the same day her boss and local trainer Steve Wolfe finished with a treble.

Wolfe and Mahoney won two of the first four events on seven-race card at Percy Spencer Racecourse.

But Mahony’s day, that started brightly with wins aboard Power Of Red and Yes Of Course, ended with a 10-day riding suspension for a whip breach.

Yes Of Course ($6.50) proved too strong for his rivals in the Bluff Knoll 10th March Handicap (1920m) after leading all of the way for Mahony.

Mahony fired the four-year-old straight to the front from barrier one and they dictated terms before holding out the fast-finishing Deadly And Fast ($3.30) to win by a long neck on the line.

It was a second career win for Yes Of Course, who had run three minor placings in class two company this campaign prior to last week’s triumph.

Mahony pleaded guilty to using her whip on four additional occasions than permitted, prior to the 100m mark on Yes Of Course.

The Albany apprentice was suspended for 10 days starting on February 17, with stewards considering her guilty plea, poor previous record in relation to whip breaches and that she won the race.

Earlier Mahony led from start to finish on Power Of Red ($6) who broke his maiden status at his fifth attempt.

The A Lot gelding was unplaced at his first two starts this preparation but sped along in front and beat home stablemate Punters Pilot, who jumped a raging $1.35 favourite, by nearly a length on the line in the Wellington & Reeves Maiden (1600m).

Wolfe finished with a treble to continue his superb season in the Great Southern when Double Thumbs Up claimed race six over 1600m.

Double Thumbs Up ($15) had not won since April last year and settled near last in running for hoop Beaux Banovic-Edwards.

The five-year-old finished powerfully in the centre of the track to defeat Cousin Ivan ($18) by half a length.
