Albany is set to welcome the new year with a bang at the annual New Year’s Eve Family Picnic and Fireworks, featuring a diverse entertainment line-up and a fireworks show at ANZAC Peace Park.

The annual event will start at 5pm on Sunday.

Music acts Xavier & St Marg, Scarlet Drive, The Frauds, South Summit and DJ Christian Stromberg will light up the stage with soulful tunes and energetic beats from 5pm.

Local entertainer Joel Jackson will grace the stage with his infectious energy as emcee for a second year while the Kids Entertainment Zone will provide a host of fun with mini-golf and giant bubbles.

Food vans will be on hand for those who prefer not to pack a picnic.

Albany Mayor Greg Stocks said the evening was a great way to celebrate the new year as a community.

“This event continues to grow and it’s wonderful to see the community come together and have a good time,” he said.

“It’s been a big year for everyone and it’s timely to celebrate the year that’s been and also start the new year off on a good note.”
