The Albany Light Opera & Theatre Company is back with its local talent show set to showcase a wide variety of budding stars from singers and dancers to special effects artists.

After last year’s Albany’s Got Talent show, ALOTCo has decided to host a similar production featuring the talent from past and present theatre members.

Like all theatre companies around the State, ALOTCo struggled with the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic.

ALOTCo’s Got Talent co-ordinator Janet McArtney said COVID-19 forced a change of plans.

“Normally, we have two or three shows, but this year COVID changed everything and we couldn’t fit a full-size production in after Urinetown The Musical so we decided to have another AGT variety show,” she said.

“After the success of last year’s Albany’s Got Talent which was a brilliant showcase of local talent it was decided that such a variety show could be performed more often,

“This show will have our very own past and present divas and divos performing an act of their choice which means something special to them,

“How lucky we are to have such talented people in Albany.”

With 33 performers and six musicians in a live band, the talent show will be held across three nights this weekend.

Audiences can expect to see renditions of songs from hit movies Frozen and The Greatest Showman, plus a song and dance from headspace Albany manager Andrew Wenzel.

WA Academy of Performing Arts hopeful Maddy Marsh will sing Shallow from A Star Is Born with Bayden Redshaw.

Darshan Clark will change things up with a Poi Lights Dance LED display.

The Staude Sisters will perform the theme song from British show Outlander, while the eldest Staude sister, Bonnie, will sing two solo performances including Voi Che Sapete Opera.

ALOTCo’s Got Talent will be showing at the Albany Port Theatre from 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday with a Sunday matinee show at 2pm.
