Albany teams NAIDOC carnival success

Albany Grassroots enjoyed a successful trip to Perth to compete in the 2019 NAIDOC Netball Carnival last week, as their four teams emerged victorious at the State Netball Centre.

Four Albany teams went up to compete in net-set-go, 12-and-under, 14-and-under and 16-and-under.

The net-set-go division did not have grand finals but the Albany team finished on top of the ladder while the other three all won their respective deciders.

The 16s girls had a couple of tough games but managed to come away with the trophy while the 14s team produced a dominant grand final victory.

After losing during the regular rounds, the 12s progress to the grand final against the opponent they had lost to earlier but they played superbly as a team to also bring home the silverware.

Albany’s Paige Narkle was rewarded for her terrific carnival by winning the 14-and-under best and fairest award.

Cheri Muir and Tahliah Dimer were the coaches of the teams and Albany will look to take even more teams next year.

The NAIDOC Netball Carnival attracts over 110 teams every year and is growing into a major indigenous sporting event in WA.
