Albany snapper catches close-call on camera

An Albany man has captured the moment a massive whale almost landed on his dinghy in WA’s North West.

Mitch Cavanagh was in a dinghy with a group of eager whale watchers off Exmouth recently watching a pod of whales pass by.

From the calm waters, a southern right whale breached, just metres from the group’s dinghy.

“It was an awesome experience and it just came up from nowhere,” he said. The moment was also captured on video.
