Star Albany basketballer Matt Leary will have the chance to taste NBL1 West grand final glory when his Perry Lakes Hawks tackle Rockingham Flames in the grand final on Saturday.

Perry Lakes Hawks claimed the minor premiership before winning their qualifying final against the Flames and preliminary final last Saturday against Perth Redbacks to book their spot in the decider.

The Flames finished in fourth spot and responded from their qualifying final loss by defeating Mandurah Magic in their semifinal and then downing the second-placed Lakeside Lightning in their preliminary final last Saturday to set up a rematch with the Hawks.

Leary will team up with Perth Wildcats development player Andrew Ferguson and they will face former Wildcats Greg Hire and Tom Jervis, who will suit up for the Flames.

The Albany sharp shooter played 14 minutes of game time in the 92-77 preliminary final win over the Redbacks, knocking down two three-pointers for his six points to go with two rebounds and one assist.

The NBL1 West grand final will be played at Bendat Basketball Centre this Saturday night starting at 7pm.
