Albany police charge 40-year-old man for copper cable theft at Centennial Park business MM Electrical

Albany police have this week charged a man after identifying him as the alleged perpetrator of an early-morning robbery of Centennial Park business MM Electrical last month. The 40-year-old man allegedly trespassed on MM Electrical’s premises after hours on November 10, entering about 1am, and stole a quantity of copper cable. A police spokesperson said the man was arrested on December 8, and charged with stealing, trespass, gains benefit by fraud and possessing drug paraphernalia. He was granted bail by Albany police and is due to make his first appearance before Albany Magistrates Court on January 8. Albany officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Carlos Correia said police had worked hard to investigate the incident, reviewing footage and making enquiries to make an arrest. Albany police were also investigating a second alleged theft, with copper wire worth about $25,000 stolen from a business in Drome overnight between November 14 and 15. Sen. Sgt Correia confirmed on Wednesday that nobody had been charged for this second incident, and investigations remained under way.
