Albany police are calling for information about an incident which involved a car chase and a crash on Tuesday.

Police say about 9.25am a white Ford XR6, registration 1DHG920, was being driven in an erratic manner on Hillman Street and Park Road in Spencer Park.

They started a pursuit of the vehicle on Park Road but aborted the chase because of the manner of driving.

The driver crossed the Campbell Road and Hillman Street intersection, causing at least two vehicles to hit the brakes to avoid a collision.

The car then travelled along Collingwood Road and turned left into Troode Street in Collingwood Heights where it crashed into a black Mercedes-Benz.

Police say the driver took off towards Ulster Road before police had arrived at the crash scene.

Senior Constable Jeff Daniels said police wanted to hear from anyone who saw the white Ford XR6 around the time of the incidents.

“We are chasing any witnesses or any dashcam footage,” Sen. Const. Daniels said.

“The way the car was driving initially, that’s why we tried to stop it.

“They have failed to stop for us, subsequently have been involved in a minor crash and failed to stop to render assistance.”

The Mercedes-Benz had to be towed from the scene of the crash.

Anyone with information can call Albany Police on 9892 9300.
