Albany man remanded on child sex exploitation charges
An Albany man facing child exploitation charges has been remanded in custody after a brief appearance in Albany Magistrates Court today.
The court was told the 29-year-old man communicated with a 14 year-old girl through electronic means, seeking to groom her in sexual activity.
After a tip off from US police in June regarding the alleged online activities of the WA man, Albany detectives searched a Great Southern home yesterday.
The man faced four charges, including involved a child in child exploitation, showed offensive material to a child under 16 years and encouraged a child of or over 13 years and under 16 years to do an indecent act.
The court was told the offences occurred in Albany and Orana between April and May last year.
Magistrate Raelene Johnston adjourned the case for two weeks to allow the Great Southern man to seek legal advice.
He will be remanded in custody until February 15.
