Albany man dies in Widgiemooltha crash

Major Crash officers are investigating the death of a 28-year-old Albany man in a crash in Widgiemooltha on Wednesday morning.
The fatal crash occurred between 6am and 6.30am on Wednesday, May 8.
The driver, a 28-year-old man from Mira Mar, died at the scene. He was a former North Albany Senior High School student.
The man was driving a white 1997 model Nissan Maxima sedan and travelling south along St. Ives Road towards Binneringie Road when the vehicle left the road, collided with a tree and rolled.

The area is known for its nearby gold and nickel mines, however the incident is not believed to be associated with a mine and Worksafe will not be investigating.
