Albany man allegedly blows more than six times the alcohol limit after Stirling Terrace crash

A 33-year-old man allegedly blew more than six times the legal alcohol limit after a collision with another car on Stirling Terrace on Sunday. Albany officer-in-charge Sen. Sgt Grant Pollard said four drink-drivers were caught in Albany at the weekend, but he was particularly staggered by the reading of the man involved in the crash. Police were called to Stirling Terrace about 1.20pm on Sunday after reports a Mitsubishi and another vehicle had collided. The driver underwent a breath test and allegedly blew 0.315. He has been charged with driving under the influence and is set to face Albany Magistrate’s Court on January 12. Sen. Sgt Pollard said it was an extremely high reading. “This just highlights the messaging around drink-driving is not getting through,” he said. “People need to plan how they are getting home, which doesn’t involve you driving if you’ve had too much to drink. “With the better weather, people are more likely to socialise and enjoy a few drinks at this time of year, but the message is don’t overindulge and think you are right to drive.”
