Albany jockey Natasha Faithfull and visiting trainer Sharon Miller team up to win $40,000 feature race

Rising galloper Paigey’s Turn was an impressive winner of the $40,000 Pelicans Albany Ladies Bracelet after a gun ride from local jockey Natasha Faithfull. Faithfull put the four-year-old mare into the race at the perfect time, rounding up the leaders as they turned for home and going on to score by a half-length in the fillies and mares feature race. The Sharon Miller-trained runner settled in fifth spot in the field of 10 and Faithfull moved her three deep nearing the home turn as they quickly raced past Golden Bonney and Snippagem. Paigey’s Turn went on to score over Rocky Path and gave Port Kennedy trainer Miller a deserved feature race success. It was a third win for Paigey’s Turn in 25 career starts and Miller said she had been knocking on the door. “She went very well and had a really good ride,” she said. “She has always got a great finish on her and we kept her nice and fresh down at the beach because she only had a week between runs.” Paigey’s Turn jumped a $4.20 chance in the race and had 55.5kg on her back. Rocky Path ($11) rocketed home from near last for jockey Brayden Gaerth and trainer Vaughn Sigley to grab second place and the Tiarnna Robertson-trained Miss Eugen was third across the line, while $3.60 favourite Snippagem faded to finish fourth for Albany trainer Roy Rogers. Miller said the Ladies Bracelet was an ideal race for Paigey’s Turn to contest. “We might take her to a 2000m race in town next and see how we go,” Miller said. “She is small but she won quite nicely.” Faithfull rode a winning treble on the eight-race card but she was fined $400 for using her whip on two additional occasions than permitted prior to the 100m in the Ladies Bracelet.
