It may have only been September but Albany’s junior cricketers made a flying start to the upcoming season when they hosted WACA Premier Cricket club South Perth last week.

In a new initiative, South Perth brought an under-14 and under-16 team to Albany for a three-day pre-season camp, which inclu-ded six matches over three days.

Albany Junior Cricket Association fielded strong teams in each age group for the two T20 matches and 50-over contest.

Albany enjoyed two wins on the opening day of the T20 matches before South Perth won both 50-over contests on Thursday.

The pre-season camp rounded off with T20 matches on Friday with Albany proving too strong for South Perth in the under-16s with half centuries to Flynn Cristinelli and Lorcan McNamara leading Albany to 172.

In reply South Perth could only muster 105 with Dustin Boyce snaring three wickets.

Albany under-14s were bowled out for 85 in their final T20 match with South Perth making 99 in reply.
